Lisa Blackburn







Lisa Blackburn is an intermedia artist interested in exploring and reimagining relationships between humans and the environment. Her research-based practice engages participatory and performative technologies both digital and analog, taking form through a variety of media. Her work in print media often starts with investigations through a lens and occasionally combines both photo and hand worked processes.

Lisa holds a BS in Botanical Illustration; an MA in Art, Education, and Social Action; and an MFA in visual art. She has been awarded residencies in the Winter Print Residency at Penland School of Crafts, and at the Open Studio Residency Program at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. She has exhibited nationally and has taught workshops for over 20 years privately in her studio and publicly in a variety of school and community settings including the Detroit Institute of Arts and Penland School of Crafts.
