Bradford Clement is an Asheville-based printmaker and geologist whose work is rooted in the landscapes of the southern Appalachian mountains. Growing up hiking and camping in North Georgia, he developed a deep connection to the natural world that naturally evolved into a career in geology. While traveling the globe as a scientist, sketching and painting on location became an integral part of his efforts to more carefully observe the natural world.
Now settled in North Carolina, the artist focuses on printmaking, becoming particularly fascinated with the meticulous process of reduction block printing. Translating plein air studies into relief block prints, his work frequently explores the landscapes of the southern Appalachian mountains, drawing subtle inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement and Japanese woodblock traditions.
